Pro 5.0.8 + Smooth Scroll breaks buttons

If I have theme.co’s Smooth Scroll plugin active then on Chrome on Android no buttons work. As soon as I deactivate Smooth Scroll then buttons / links work again.

I can confirm that so far I have tested this on multiple sites as I’ve turned the plugin on, on various development sites and as soon as I activate it the problems start.

Hi @urchindesign,

Thanks for reaching out!

I tried to install the Smooth Scroll plugin on my development website then check it on my android chrome but my buttons are just working fine. That being said, there could be another conflict when activating the Smooth Scroll plugin.

I suggest that you deactivate all your plugins except for the Smooth Scroll plugin and let us see how it goes. If the issue didn’t occur while deactivating all the plugins except for Smooth Scroll, I recommend activating the other plugins one by one to find the culprit.

Hope that helps.

As stated I have tested this on several different sites. I have already turned off all plugins and removed all custom code from my child themes functions file.

With Smooth Scroll activated I cannot click any buttons on Android with Chrome. The Chrome version is 94.0.4606.61.

I have tested this on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. These are physical phones not emulators. As soon as I deactivate Smooth Scroll the buttons work.

Again I have deactivated all plugins and just left Pro and Smooth Scroll active and then the buttons stop working. (When I say buttons I mean button elements, links in text, links on headline elements, links on image elements etc.) If I then deactivate smooth scroll the buttons etc. start behaving as normal.

If you visit the site on an Android Phone with the latest version of Android and the latest version of Chrome or (perhaps a Samsung Phone??) you will see even a basic button element doesn’t work with Smooth Scroll activate. Try clicking the “More about us” button.

Hi @urchindesign,

Thank you for the clarification, but I tested that “More about us” button on that page (on a couple of android devices) but I could not replicate the issue. Can you try the private mode of your browser where there is no browser extension involve? It’s also possible a certain App on your phone is causing the issue. Please do a test around this assumption.

Thanks,

I can confirm that I have cleared my browser cache and run the page in Incognito Mode with the same effect.

Have you tested with either of the devices mentioned.

These are stock standard Samsung phones that are really popular. Neither of the phones have any add-ons installed.

We can’t very well tell clients or potential site visitors using Samsung phones to uninstall apps and browser extensions. Samsung is one of the more popular Android phones.

I can also confirm the problem is also found if using a Samsung Note 20 Ultra.

I can confirm that I have had several people from around the world test the site with Samsung phones and the issue is there.

I can also confirm that I had several other Pro users from around the world install “Smooth Scroll” onto various sites of theirs and as soon as “Smooth Scroll” is installed their sites stopped working correctly on Samsung smart phones.

Hi @urchindesign,

I have checked your website in Samsung Galaxy and the Smooth Scroll is working properly. It might be specific to the Samsung Note 20 Ultra device, I will check and add this to the issue tracker for further investigation by our development team.

Thanks

So far I have tested it on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and Samsung S21 Ultra.

I had people in Europe test it on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. (I’m based in South Africa).

One of the people in Europe also installed Smooth Scroll onto their own website and the problem occurred.

All three devices cause the issue. So it can be device specific but so far I’ve tested it on three popular Samsung phones and all three had the same problem.

Hi @urchindesign,

My colleague already added this issue in our issue tracker. Rest assured that our developers will take a look on this issue but we don’t have any ETA.

Thank you for understanding.

Thanks I am just providing feedback that it is multiple Samsung devices not just the one specified by your colleague.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10+
  • Samsung S21 Ultra.
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

You’re welcome!
