Pro 5.0.7 Unable to save an update to an existing page

Hi,
I wonder if you can help me please?
I have been working on a site refresh in a staging area of my server. The site is almost ready to go live but I wanted to make some adjustments to a number of pages.

  1. When I try to save the amendments I get the report that the page has failed to save.
  2. I switch the page to draft and the save is fine
  3. I try to revert the page to published but the save fails again.
  4. I go to the pages tab in Wordpress and try revert the page from Draft to Published. The cog whirs but nothing happens.
  5. I clear the cache of the page and the page has reverted to Published.

I have just tried this on another, live site, and the same thing happens, I have also tried disabling my caching plugin but this hasn’t helped either. Earlier versions of the latest Pro were working fine.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I tried to login with the given credentials but it requires Authentication code as well, please disable this feature temporarily so we can take a look at your setup.

The error you mentioned usually happens when there is a conflict, you can test for the following and see if this resolves the issue:

  1. TESTING FOR PLUGIN CONFLICT
  2. CHILD THEME
  3. CSS/JS CUSTOMIZATION
  4. INCREASING PHP MEMORY LIMIT
  5. DISABLING CACHE
  6. VERSION COMPATIBILITY

Thanks for your reply.
It was a plugin update that happened the same time I updated to Pro 5.0.7 that caused the problem - I have added a support ticket to the plugin developer.

Thanks Ken! Would you mind letting us know what plugin you suspect caused this? It would be nice to know so we could take a look as well in case there’s anything that can be done on our end to prevent this from happening.

It is SEOPress Pro - the free version is okay but the Pro version causes the problem. Their support team are looking into it.

Hi, SEOPro support asked me to use WP DEBUG mode and produce a report while trying to update a page. I’m still waiting for them to get back to me but thought that you might like to see the report. I tried to update the about page where they saw an Ajax error then I tried to update the Privacy Policy page in Wordpress:

Update
Today I was working on one of my other sites that was on Pro 4.3.3 and SEOPro 5.1.0. Both were working fine, page and post updates were saving without a problem. The website has just automatically updated to Pro 5.0.8 so I tested a page amendment and the same problem happened, Pro failed to save the page. My only conclusion is that there must be something wrong with Pro 5.0.8 that is causing the problem.
