Hi Mike,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I was able to replicate the issue in my local setup, the autoplay works fine when there is only one video element on the page however this happens when multiple video elements are added. I’ve submitted this to our issue tracker so the developers will be made aware of it.

Instead of using video elements, you can use background video option since you need no controls and no audio. Background videos are by default set to autoplay and loop enabled so this could be a better option for you.

Hope this helps!

No, sorry it doesn’t help. These small videos (more an animation) cannot be an entire row. I need the double column layout as you see it or it makes no sense. Last I checked, columns don’t accept video backgrounds, so the “fix” won’t work. Since we should be able to have more than one video element on a page, please confirm that your team entered this as a bug and not a feature request. I need the dev team to be more than aware of this. I need them to confirm it is entered in Jira or Bugzilla or whatever their bug tracking system is. Or, if they want to deny its a bug I need need to know they’re taking that position.

Tx

Hi Mike,

This is not really a bug but a browser restriction for videos to autoplay.

You may read more about it here:

It would be best to use the videos as background since you can actually assign a video background to a column now as long as you are using the v2/new columns:

Is is also possible to add a Row element to the columns and set the video background to the inner row.

Hope this helps.

Helps but doesn’t work. The background won’t format correctly. Photo has size and position settings (i.e. cover). Video background does not. Plus although I can see it in the editor, it does not appear on the page. It also does not format responsively. Does not resize. Just crops.

BTW, doesn’t work in 4 other browsers so not a chrome issue. Lastly, I can send you a page of a website where this is working and they have these 3 videos working just as I have them. Maybe give me a secure link so I can let you log in.

Hello Mike,

Please be aware the the X and Pro theme are WordPress themes. The themes do not have any feature that overrides the browser defaults or how the browser handles video and audio. The “Audio Focus Enforcement” settings were added in most modern browsers which enables enforcement of a single media session having audio focus at any one time. Requires #enable-media-session-service to be enabled too. – Mac, Windows, Linux.

You can try adding “chrome://flags/”, “firefox://flags/” or “opera://flags/” in Chrome, Firefox or Safari. You will find the setting being set to default that automatically turn OFF the audio which is also affects the auto playing of videos in the page.

By the way, to know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Regards.
