Preview Size setting doesn't match grid breakpoint

In trying to finesse the Grid for different breakpoints, I’m trying to use the Preview Size tool, but as you can see here, the Preview Size is set to LG, but the Grid breakpoint that’s highlighted is MD. It’s very inconsistent – when Preview Size is XL or XS, the highlighted Grid breakpoints are XL and XS as expected, but the other three are all one size off. Here’s the complete rundown:

Preview / Grid highlight
XL / XL
LG / MD
MD / SM
SM / XS
XS / XS

It’s making it very hard to accurately anticipate how LG, MD, and SM work. Is this a bug or an expected behavior?

I can confirm that I am also seeing this bug. It only occurs when using Safari on Mac, but doesn’t happen in Chrome - I did report it to Alexander in the beta forum

Thanks for reaching out about this. I do believe this is something specific to Safari, but in my own testing I’ve not been able to reproduce it. So we haven’t been able to wrangle this one yet. We’re holding off on further investigation because that breakpoint switcher is going to be removed in the Responsive Styling update. We’re replacing it with something more adjustable. I believe the detection is just off by a few pixels so if you stop using the preview switcher and just resize your browser, the blue indicators should still be accurate to what will happen on the front end of the site. I’m sorry we don’t have a better solution for this at the moment.
