Presenting ethos standard category post layout on a custom page

Hey. I love the sequential way in which ethos lays out posts in a category archive. However, we’re doing a publishing site and need to put those on a page so that we can use revolution slider.

What can we do to have the same style of post layout as on a standard category archive on the page?

example of standard category post -->

example of the custom page with a revolution slider below masthead dropdown w/a grid below it (though what I want to know is how to get the other, standard style underneath the rev slider)

Thank you as always

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in!

This is something a customization request which is out of our theme support scope, but if you wants to do that yourself, you needs to add a PHP file specific to the page in compliance with the template hierarchy of Wordpress: https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/

page-{slug}.php

That file should sit on the root folder of your child theme.

Then you needs to add the contents of wp-content/themes/x/framework/views/ethos/wp-index.php to that file and add the <?php the_content(); ?> section wherever you wants on that file. The PHP code will ensure that whatever you adds to the Cornerstone it will show. So you will have both the cornerstone stuff and that listing.

you then will indeed need some CSS styling to fine tune stuff.

The other alternative is to use the Recent Posts element in the Cornerstone and try to add Custom CSS code to make it look like the listing.

If you can’t do it yourself, we encourage you to search a freelance developer in the X Users Group:

Thanks
