'Posts (List)' Element - Only list posts based on category

I am using the ‘Post (Lists)’ Element in the Page Builder.

I have it displaying all posts on the page without a problem, looks great. However, I only wish to display posts in a certain category I’ve defined (‘Articles’) in the list and not every post on the site.

How can I do this? I’ve looked everywhere I can think of and I’m sure this must be possible, but cannot find a control to achieve this.

Cheers

Hello @stormgoose,

Thanks for writing to us.

To display the posts filter by the category you need to go to the element Posts—>Customize —> Set the Looper Provider as Query Builder —>Taxonomies---->Select Category.

Hope it helps
Thanks

Many thanks for posting back with this. That has done it

One thing I would say is that perhaps the UI could be improved a bit, as once you’ve set the category under ‘Taxonomies’, whilst it changes the status of said box from ‘Any’ to ‘Edit’, when the other boxes (such as ‘Authors’) is set it actually shows what it has been set to. I find this a bit inconsistent and confusing, unless I’ve missed the point!

Many thanks for your help

Hi @stormgoose,

Glad that we are able to help you with this. Regarding your suggestion, in the Taxonomy field it already shows the selected category name separated with the commas.

Thanks

I thought it should do something like you’ve described, but unless I’m missing the point it does not :frowning: Please see a screen shot of what I’m talking about - other than ‘Edit’ being present there is no indication a Taxonomy has been set and what it is (such as the category name, so if I’m understanding you correctly, this should display as ‘Articles’ instead of ‘Edit’):

Just to add, I am running the latest 5.1.4 release of Pro

Hi @stormgoose,

It should look like the following screenshot.

If that is not showing after selecting the categories, there might be some different reasons behind your issue. I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Theme Related Issue
2.Plugin Conflict
3.Theme Update related issue
4.Child Theme Related issue ** if you have activated it.
5.CSS/JS Customization
6.Disabling Cache
7.Disabling CDN

If that does not help, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

Thanks
