Poster does not Disappear

I have created a Video Element - Player, and added a poster. This looks great, but when I play the video, the poster does not go away, the video plays, but it is covered by the poster. Shouldn’t the poster disappear when the play button is selected?

My source video is from youtube.

I would be happy to provide the URL, but it is password protected. Where can I provide you access if you need it?

Thank you for writing in, please use the Video - Embed element instead as you’re using an embed video.

YouTube provides an embed code (https://prnt.sc/hjzin1), it has its own poster so you don’t need to add a poster to it.

Thanks…We really wanted to use a custom poster. If we host the video on the site with a direct link, will the poster disappear then? I love the flexibility of the controls on the Video Element. I am hoping that the poster will disappear if we get the video on the site.

Yes, the poster will disappear if you’re going to use a self-hosted video or direct to video link.

Great! One other question. Is there a way to set it up, using a different Element, so that the poster is essentially a big button that launches the video in a Lightbox format?

Hello There,

In a raw content element, you can make use of an image being link to a video and a lightbox shortcode so that the video will display in a lightbox.

You need to do as follows:

<a href="http://vime.com/videoid"  class="lightbox-go"> <img src="your-poster-image-source"> </a>
[lightbox selector=".lightbox-go"]
