I want to create a press room for a client that gets a lot of media attention. I think I can do this with Essential Grid & a category filter…But maybe there is a better way, as I am not familiar with custom content types.

What I want is a way to post content into the grid that will not post to the blog post page or front page, but only to this grid housed on a separate page.

Does that make sense? If so, how would I do this?

So I followed the tutorial, but I’m trying to embed a video. I’m using the video ID under “alternate source” and I keep seeing that the video source is missing…

I just have the one post type set up (no taxonomies, etc.) but did fill out all fields…

Ideas??

No still wonky…I had the error message wrong, so I edited my post (it says to give a reason why).

I can see that you are trying to use video format for your new post type but did not add meta box for your video details.

There should be a new settings like this

I really don’t care how I create the press room. A cutom post type was one idea, since I want it separate from blog posts. Could the Portfolio be an option?

Hi,

Actually, portfolio is a custom post type itself, so yes, it should work and you can select “Video” as the media type as well. Don’t forget to add the video in “Video Portfolio Item Settings” as in this screenshot:
