I love the potential of the new Layouts (once I get over the learning curve).
How can I limit the Post Navigation element to only show the layout’s conditional posts? The layout shows individual speaker profile pages which are created using the Portfolio Post Type and within a certain portfolio category. Unfortunately, the Post Navigation element also opens other Portfolio Posts which I don’t want.
I would have hoped the navigation is also controlled by the layout’s conditional assignment.
Changing the Assignment Priority from 0 to 1 doesn’t seem to do anything.

I have reread the articles and video and still can’t get it to work.
I have created a new Portfolio Layout for this Category within Layouts and everything works well for the individual pages. I want to build in simple forward and back arrows that load the next Portfolio item within the selected Portfolio Category.
I have placed the Post Navigation Element into a new row and turned on the Row’s:
- Looper Provider (Query Builder: Posts - Portfolio Item, Taxonomies - MT21 Speaker, Order by - Title)
- and Looper Consumer (One).
The navigation does go through a couple of the correct speakers, but then also loads any Portfolio Item no matter what category they are. The layout itself is working, as when the other items are loaded it switches to the default Portfolio layout.
I tried to use the Post Navigation element inside a DIV element, however, that either made no difference and/or it interfered with the post content. I also tried setting the Row as above and the column loopers using the current post setting.
The navigation should be a simple function, so hopefully you can help highlihgt what I am doing wrong.

Hey Ken,
In this case, please deactivate all 3rd party plugins so we can be sure that there’s nothing manipulating the query. Please then provide the following information in a Secure Note.
- WordPress Login URL
- Admin username and password
- URL of the page where the issue happens

Thanks for the help. However, I have decided on another layout option that actually works better than the post navigation element. While I know it doesn’t solve the post navigation issue and it will likely come up again, but for now I’m happy with the new option.
