Post Lock Out Feature No Longer Works (User Lock Out)

Hey Guys,

It looks like on going to your new Update a key feature of wordpress has been overlooked and can cause some major headaches of people with websites housing multiple users. Since wordpress 3.6 we’ve had the hearbeat API and Post Locking, and now it is not usable. Can you guys let me know how to get this reimplemented as its causing chaos on my end? Would love to get some resolve and get some of my sanity back. Thanks

Here’s the feature im talking about…

Hi there,

Thank you for writing in. Would you please do as test for us and change the theme of your website to something other than X and see if the problem goes away? If that is a case we will follow up but if the problem persists it shows our theme is not related to the issue.

Kindly get back to us with the result to follow up. Thank you.

Yessir, If i deactivate this, the feature works perfect. See screenshot. It worked just fine until the last big update which introduced pro ect.

This is an extremely useful feature that wordpress offers out of the box to those of us who have many users editing at the same time. Could you let me know if this is something the devs are going to reconnect?

Hi there,

I checked the case in my local installation and the functionality is working ok:

The problems seem when the user is working on Cornerstone. As the Cornerstone redirects the user to completely different URL, the page in question unlocks.

The workaround for that is to have one tab of the browser inside the page you are working on. And another tab to use the Cornerstone. That way it will keep locked.

Thank you.

So the workaround is to open the page when editing in a new tab and have 1 tab on the main edit screen where they see the cornerstone or Pro launch buttons? Is this correct?

Since this is not necessarily working because we need to have a workaround how Cornerstone operates out of the box. Do you know if the dev teams can tie this functionality back in so we don’t need to have a workaround to get to a key wordpress functionality back?

OR finding a way to launch cornerstone in a new tab on click vs opening inside the existing page?

Hi there,

You can have the Cornerstone opened in a new page, but you need to be on the page listing. On that page if you hover over your desired post you will see a link called Edit With Cornerstone, right click that link and open it in a new tab:

That should do the trick. And as you suggested we will inform our developers regarding this.

Thank you.
