Post carousel in x-theme Ethos is white

It seemed to go blank after setting up a slideshow using the 2JSlideshow plug in. I have since uninstalled that, and deactivated all plugins in an effort to get the post carousel back to header. Doing this one at a time, until all were deactivated, nothing changed.
I have one line of code in the custom CSS that changes the text format in the slider:

.x-post-carousel, .h-entry-cover {
font-family: arial;
text-transform: none;

I tried commenting that out: made no difference.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi there,

There seems to be a Javascript error that is causing the issue.

Would you mind double checking for plugin conflict? Also, please make sure that you have everything updated.

If the issue persists, kindly temporarily disabled all third party plugins and provide us with the admin access in a secure note so that we can check.

Thank you.

did all that. and will send you my login info using the Secure Note option. just a sec…

Hi There,

Thank you for the credentials.
I can see that you do have updated Cornerstone plugin but X theme is not updated yet. Those 2 should be updated simultaneously. Please check our changelog here and update X theme too. Let us know how this goes.

done. no luck. :frowning: Other suggestions?

I looked at the change log…I’m all updated now. No change to that darn carousel. I’m open to other suggestions.

Hi There,

The error is still there.
Do you have any customization on your child theme? If yes, try switching from child theme to main X theme. If not, try reinstalling Cornerstone. Those errors means certain function that make post carousel works is not recognize. This happens if there some conflict with plugins or customization or on rare cases installation is corrupted.

Ok, I’ll start with Cornerstone and go from there. I’ll let you know how it all goes.

Ok then, please do update us.

In case the issue persists, please do share FTP credentials too on a secure note.

Ok, so we commented out the custom CSS, then deactivated and deleted the Cornerstone…but then x-them automatically reinstalled it. the problem still persists. Can you see if the same errors are still there?

Oh, and we did switch from the child theme to the x-theme…that created another set of errors with the widgets. :frowning: so I set it back to the child theme.

I found this in:

janetmnast.com\JMN2017\wp-content\themes\x\framework\functions\global\content.php (1 hit)
Line 201: var bodyOffsetBottom = windowObj.scrollBottom(); // 1

can you re-run the tool that came up with that error? Not sure what changed.
In the mean time, I’ll send my FTP in a secure note…

Not sure if you’re in there, but I thought I saw the gaping white bar again for a few minutes…then it was gone, LOL!!! Just an FYI, yesterday (after deleting all plugins) I actually had redownloaded and reinstalled the brand new x-theme and activated it. And i got a ton widget errors. So I went back to my child theme, which is what I have displayed now. So yeah…sigghhhh…after 4 hours of this, I’m a bit burned out with no progress. I think I’ll work on fixing the image issues on some of my pages. I’ll check in later to see if you’ve found anything. I know this is weird because my friend is using the same theme and the same stack and his is working just fine. TTYL

Hi Jan,

I would like to further check on this but the ftp login provided is not working.

I can still see a js error in the console, there is something wrong with your set-up that create those errors.

For a temporary fix, you can add this in Theme Options > CSS

.x-post-carousel-item {
    width:25%;
}

Hope that helps

Thank you - I’ll give this a shot. I’m logging out now till wednesday. I’ll update then.

Hi there,

I did a thorough check on your website and could not find the reason why the error happens. I double checked the case with 3 of my installations and they all work fine.

One thing that I can not understand is that I completely disabled all plugins and changed the theme to the normal one and I see the errors regarding the widgets.

That shows the WordPress installation is corrupt and you need to re-install the WordPress for that matter.

Also, I see that you set the 2 URLs differently in Settings > General for your installation. That might be causing issues using our theme for sure. You need to have both URLs the same there.

Thank you.

Hi Christopher,
I ended up by using the css code (for the carousel) that one of the other support people (Paul) shared, and it seems to be working at the top of my page now-I’m grateful for that. I will talk with my support guy about the wordpress install and learn about how to do the reinstall…I don’t want to lose the whole site out of my own ignorance. We’ve reinstalled the theme, and yeah, as you can tell, that didn’t help, so yeah, I’m ready to try something new. I appreciate all your time and effort. Thank you!
