Post Automatic Excerpt Missing

We upgraded our Pro theme to Version: 4.0.10 and we started having a problem with new posts. They don’t have an excerpt on our Blog Posts index page. We tried to work around it by adding a manual excerpt (which worked) but there’s a possibly related problem: there is no Read More link either.

Note that the most recent post (Self-Serving) is missing the Read More link. And if you edit the post and remove the manual excerpt the excerpt on the index page disappears.

Are you aware of anything in the new version that would cause these problems?

Hey @WPDave,

I see that there’s no excerpt now but that is really the intended behavior if you’re using the builder for your post since the builder is composed of shortcodes so it should not display in the excerpt.

The Manual Excerpt also really doesn’t have a Read More text though I post this as a feature request to let our developers know that you need it.

For now, please try using the WordPress Editor for the automatic excerpt and the Read More link to show up.
