Portfolio with essential grid is slow

Hi there! I’m setting up my portfolio with Essential grid, but I can’t help to notice that the loading time is quite slow (approximately 30seconds). I’ve compressed my images, they’re between 49ko and 350ko for the bigger ones (though most of them are between 100-200ko). Is it still too much? When the portfolio has been loaded once, it loads faster when I come back to it, but I worry about visitors being annoyed by waiting too long on the first time.

I’ve compressed the images thanks to TinyJPG on the web. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
