I have been searching through the forum in regard to adding a sidebar to my portfolio page. I found some code that will allow me to add the sidebar using the child theme functions.php file (/30959/4). However, I can’t get anything to show up in the sidebar. Ideally I want an Instgram Feed to round out the existing portfolio images. The Instagram Feed is not showing up as a widget to use and the short code doesn’t seem to work either.

I have tested adding a Search bar, a Calendar, a Text area, Images, etc., and nothing will show on this sidebar. Can you please help me understand what I am doing incorrectly?

Thanks for writing in!

I have checked your modifications. Your sidebar did not display because you have selected the Post Types as well.

You have two custom sidebars and both of the is set to display in Posts or Pages. Either use the selected post and pages or use custom post type in general. Do not use both selections.

Thank you. I was never able to get either one of the sidebars to work correctly. Ideally I’d like to have the sidebar on the Company News section as well so I can show Archives as the posts go back several years. What do I need to do to get that one to work properly?

Just got it to work on my Company News page! I had to change the Layout in Customizer to “Use Global Content Layout”. Not sure how I missed that during the original setup, but I did… Thanks for your help.
