Portfolio pagination

Hi I have a page https://sswvisitorguide.com/guide/ which is using the default portfolio page, I’m running 2.1.6 (Pro) with a child theme, but I have not modified the portfolio template (just the homage page)

When I use the pagination on the /guide/ page portfolio entries are displaying in both page 1 and 2 of the pages, and I don’t appear to have the ability to resolve this issue?

Thanks

Dave

Hey Dave,

I’m sorry but I am not sure what exactly the issue is. Would you mind providing more details and screenshots? Also, if you remove your customization, does the issue persists? What file did you modify and what did you customize. We might shed some light. But, please note that we do not have support for customization issues and enhancements so in the event that we are unable to recommend a solution, this would need to be directed to a third party developer.

Thanks.

When I visit /guide/ I see there are 2 pages of content.

Here’s a screen shot of page 1 & 2 side by side

It looks like “Historic State Cemetery” and Bouldin Creek Cafe are appearing on both pages of portfolio listing page, when they should only appear once.

I’ve checked the posts and we don’t have any duplicate posts, so it appears that the pagination isn’t ordering correctly and showing the correct content for subsiquent pages.

Please note that whilst I’m using a child theme, I have no made any modifications to the portfolio section

The page is using the “portfolio” template which is available in the template dropdown options, there is no other content added via corner stone, this is just the portfolio page template being applied.

Thanks

Dave

Just a bit more detail, there are 29 posts currently, the first page of the portfolio page shows 24 items, the second page shows the extra 5 portfolio items, however looking through the whole grid https://sswvisitorguide.com/guide/ on page one, all the items on page 2 are duplicates that can be found on page 1, so whilst page 2 shows 5 posts, it’s not showing the 5 posts that are missing from page 1, but 5 posts from page 1 in a random order.

Thanks

Dave

Hi There,

Please switch to the parent theme to check if the issue still persists.

Also try testing a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If it still doesn’t help, would you mind providing us with login credentials(by clicking on the Secure Note button at the bottom) so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

  • Link login to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password

Thanks.

HI I’ve tried swapping to the main x-theme (not child) and removed all the plugins but the problem persists.

I can give you logins no problem.

The affected page is /guide/

Thanks

Dave

Hi @agilepixel,

I was able to check your setup closer. I could not see any problem with your setup. The only thing that I have found is that the 2 portfolio pages does not have images. please try adding images to the portfolio that does not have images.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hi can you see that the portfolio posts visible on page 2
https://sswvisitorguide.com/guide/page/2/
are the same as the ones on page 1

https://sswvisitorguide.com/guide/

The issue that I have is that it’s not showing all the posts, as the second page is showing posts from page 1 rather than a new set of the “other” posts.

I assume that 2 posts not having an image wouldn’t be an issue in terms of it showing the correct posts on pages 1 & 2?

Thanks

Dave

If it’s not possible to resolve this issue, how do I increase the number of posts that are visible per page? I could just show all posts and remove the pagination.

Thanks

Dave

Hey Dave,

You can do that in the Portfolio Settings. Increase the Posts Per Page setting.

Hope that helps.

That’s great thanks, we’ll use that in the short term, do you have any idea how to fix the underlying issue?

Thank

Dave

I’m just trying to increase the posts per page

I’ve gone to Pro > Theme options
scrolled down to portfolio and there’s no option to choose the number of posts, so I must be looking in the wrong section? I’ve tried looking at each item within the theme options and there’s no number value for how many posts are visible in portfolio.

I’ve increased the blog post via Settings > reading (the default wordpress solution) to 99 but that doesn’t affect the number of portfolio items being shown, could you tell me where I’m going wrong please? is it the Pro theme is different to the X theme that you’ve screen shotted?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

It looks like you are looking in the incorrect place, please check this video screencast I made for you:

For the main issue, I couldn’t reproduce it at my localhost although I’ve tried different options, I suggest reinstalling the parent theme again and recheck this issue, if the issue persists, then please provide us with FTP login details in a Secure Note.

Thanks.
