Portfolio loading taking long solution?

Hi! As more people noted the loading of the portfolio is slow :slight_smile: Since I use video’s from Youtube, I can’t optimize individual pictures.

I asked our webdeveloper and she suggested ‘infinite scroll’ - so just the first items will be loaded and the rest only after scrolling. Is something like that possible?

Hi Grietje,

Unfortunately, there is no such option is available right now for infinite scroll. I would suggest you set the number of post in Posts Per Page settings of Portfolio page so that number of post only load for each page and will reduce the loading time. And you will get the Pagination to go for the next pages.

Yes, that would definitely reduce the loading time :slight_smile: However if you click one of the categories on top, it will only select the portfolio items for that category, from the page you are currently on.

I am searching for a way to have all the portfolio items to show if you click a category (also from other pages!) and still for it to load reasonably fast.

For now that does not seem to be possible? Or am I overlooking something?

Hi Grietje,

If you are pagination, it loads only the number of posts you mentioned. That is why the category filter will work for those posts only, not all the posts it has.

Is this something you might be able to look at on future updates? To have the category filter work on the whole portfolio, not just on 1 page of it?

Oh just an other question my developer came up with :slight_smile:
Is it possible to add a text while loading. So I can state there it might take a while (but it’s worth the wait :wink: ) and for that text to disappear when everything is loaded?

Hey Grietje,

There’s no option in our theme to do that. I do believe that it is feasible with customization. Regretfully, providing customization is outside the scope of our theme support.
