Portfolio - have thumbnail expand to play video, rather than go to portfolio item page

Hi,
I’d like to have a portfolio that acts something like this other wordpress theme - Koi - where the portfolio items are there (which X does), and when you click on an item, it either
(a) expands to show the featured item (mostly for me video) and some text, but this is still on the SAME page as the portfolio. My aim is to keep a user from needing to click back after each time they investigate a portflio item.
(b) shows the portfolio item contents, perhaps at the top pushes other items aside for space, but KEEPS the rest of the portfolio items on that page, so a user could simply scroll down and get back to the rest of the thumbnails.

The feature you are looking for, unfortunately is not available in the theme.
This is something need custom development which is out of our theme support scope.
