Portfolio badge category

A small question about portfolio customization for my website…

I have different categories in my portfolio and to better differentiate each item, I would like to create a small “badge” that could appear on the portfolio.

A bit like the badge indicating the percentage of discount on a product in a woocommerce store…

Here is the “concept” in illustration :
