Polylang and Cornerstone preview error

We are using X Theme and Cornerstone in a website with the Polylang plugin. But we are now getting preview errors when editing the other language pages.

Good to know is that, the error says Preview URL: https://www.domain.de/contact/ but the real url is https://www.domain.com/en/contact/

Cornerstone version: 3.2.5
X theme version: 6.3.0

We already disabled all other plugins and deleted the cache. Is there a solution for this bug, and will this be fixed? Many thanks.

Hi,

You have incompatible versions of the theme and cornerstone.

Please update Cornerstone to Version 3.3

Remember to clear all caches when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Thanks

I’ve manually updated our theme because of this bug, but there isn’t a Cornerstone update available in the backend. This should appear here right, or is there a way to also update Cornerstone manually?

Hey @Aluca,

Out of the box, Polylang URL uses the language’s directory name like http://example.com/en/my-post/ which does not work with Cornerstone. Please go to Languages > Settings > URL modifications and choose The language is set from content which will not touch the original URL slug.

If you can, I’d recommend that you use WPML instead of Polylang because that is the translation plugin which Cornerstone supports.

Thanks.

Thanks we will try this out.

Do you know if Polylang support is coming to Cornerstone?

Hi,

I am sorry but I have no idea and to be honest we might not be able to fully support that plugin.

We’re first committed to our WPML integration, and that always have priority moving forward.

Thanks

@christian_y
Just tried this option and yes it solves the problem. Not ideal because of the missing language code in the url. But we can work around this.

@paul.r
Good to know, thanks for the honest answer. Can it be it did worked in the past? This website is almost a year old and it worked when we started building.

Hi Aluca,

The older versions contain minimal feature compared to the new one, and the new builder has new implementation when it comes to translations which are of course, integrated to WPML for now.

Thanks!
