I’ve been using toolset to create some custom post and archives, and then I installed MEC. If I enable the layouts toolset plug in, then event pages display no information, just blank. If I deactivate it, then the event displays correctly. Not really sure why this happens.

The Toolset plugin does have many conflict issues with different plugin also in some edge cases with our theme. Unfortunately, we can not be a help regarding this and it is something that Toolset plugin developers should fix.
We will inform the ME Calendar developers regarding this problem for sure but we will not be able to follow up the case and it all depends on the plugin developers.
Meanwhile, I suggest that you use some easy code generators to add Custom Post types and that kind of stuff such as:
This will not act as a replacement for the Toolset plugin and we suggested that to just be as helpful as we can in this case.
