Playsinline on mobile

I am having a problem getting a background video to play on mobile. I can not add the plays inline code and get it to work. Can you advise?

Hello Chris,

Thanks for writing in! Mobile browsers will always automatically disable any video backgrounds. This is why we have provided an option to insert a poster image so that on smaller screens, the poster image will be displayed as a replacement to the background video.

Hey Chris,

It’s not possible. Background videos are really disabled on mobile. There are hacky ways to make that possible but that would mean slowing down your page and it’s outside the scope of our theme support as it would require custom development.

The only way to play the video on mobile in our theme is to use the Video Element. It won’t be a background though.
