Playing nice

This is a product request
As each new release of X comes out, more and more of my helper plugins fail to operate properly - examples:
Yoast can’t count words, see keywords or give useful optimisation tips(Your page has no words which is less than the suggested 300 etc)
Any plugin that generates AMP pages produces a list of cs-codes

I can see that it isn’t your responsibility to create code that is compatible with every plugin in the universe, and I can also see that the plugin manufacturers can’t be compliant with every theme/CMS etc

But the result is that things just don’t work as they should
I have some suggestions

  1. You write your own Yoast-like and AMP creating functionality (AMP isn’t going to go away - and should be core functionality, and Yoast or similar are used by everyone) I’ve looked in your approved plugins section, and I can’t find anything
  2. You go back to the functionality that did “Play nice” - I had no problems in the original pages and posts I created
  3. If you are the biggest theme in the wordpress universe, use your muscle to get the plugin manufacturers to change how they work

All I know is that the theme is becoming less and less useful with each release - this needs to be addressed

Chris

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in.

I understand the issue, but this issue is coming from both ends.

Yoast analyzes the raw content of the page (shortcodes and text content), but do search engine log in to your site and pull the raw content and analyze it? It’s not, and it can’t. Search engine analyses the final output of your page which shortcodes are processed by Wordpress (like from [image] shortcode to <img>). So why would Yoast base it on raw content where search engines can’t reach? And yes, another issue is with the shortcodes generated from the v2 element, it doesn’t contain much information. I’ll add it to our issue tracker then.

But all in all, search engine analyses the public view of your page, and not the raw content from your site’s database.

You may also try the older version for now if you wish to use the older functionalities. Plus, you’re not required to use v2 elements (such as the shortcodes above), you can still use classic elements. And you may disable v2 elements by choosing classic element within Admin > Cornerstone > Settings, or Admin > Pro > Settings, or Admin > X > SettingsunderContent Builder Elements` option.

Thanks!

Rad
Thank you for the quick reply I appreciate it
The Yoast thing I understand, I don’t understand why they do it that way
What about AMP?
AMP is here to stay, and I can’t find one plugin that correctly generates AMP pages from Cornerstone content V2

Could you add a feature request that Cornerstone creates AMP pages - perhaps by default

On the point of going back to V1 code, that doesn’t work either. For instance Videos held in the original video container are now flagged as “Bad content mismatch” by webtools. So to use V1, the V1 code needs to be updated to current requirements. I can’t see you doing that, it would be seen as a waste of time which I get, so, could there be a request that new V2 developments also go through an extra check phase to see if they “Play nice” with other popular plugins
Thanks
Chris

Hi there,

The AMP is already on our feature request list, but we don’t any news about it yet. I’ll add this your thread to our issue tracker where AMP is added as a feature request. This should serve as another vote.

Would you mind providing more details about “Bad content mismatch”? A video recording may help too

Thanks!
