Placeholder images showing in responsive layout

Hi,

I was just fine-tuning a site before showing it to the client and noticed a series of 4 placeholder images on the homepage when in responsive mode via Chrome. I do not see the images in WP, X or in desktop mode. The images are not in my image library either. I am attaching a screenshot showing the desktop view with an overlay of the 4 placeholder images showing the location of the images. I have researched the forums and found this string, https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/remove-placehold-image/28676, but there are no images in the areas that it mentions. How and where can I remove these?
