Parameters on the document level?

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to set parameters on the document level. Sort of like the Global Params or Element Params but on a Cornerstone document level

Meaning for things like a single layout.

Ex: a single post layout in cornerstone has a few text fields that can take dynamic content. So there would be a gear when you go to settings for that single layout that brings up the ability to enter parameters for the document. (like the elements and globals have).

We would build the params out and when someone is editing a post that uses that single layout they would have params next to Outline and Settings (like a component would have). Then we can use parameters and DC tags to fill in elements in the layout per post.

We are doing this now using ACF, but for simple things, it’s annoying to have to leave cornerstone to go back to the admin page to make an edit and come back. Also clients never remember where to go to edit them because they forget to leave Cornerstone.

Thanks
Nick

Hello Nick,

I will forward your feedback to our developer @Charlie. He may have some input on this.

Thanks.

It’s a good idea for us to do this. Some of your response makes me think a meta field editor would be great too to solve this or an ACF field editor inside Cornerstone. We’re finishing up Pro 6.8 right now, but we can take a look after that release. Have a great day.

Glad to hear that!

Thanks all. An ACF field editor would be fantastic. It would definitely stop my clients from asking me why they need to leave cornerstone to edit fields.

In my opinion, extending cornerstone parameters to a post/document level would be huge. For the majority of the sites that I build, it would replace ACF because cornerstone has many control types that match up or are close enough to what ACF has. So, for smaller sites, one less plugin and everything right in the cornerstone editor. Simple as click the params tab, fill some fields and some lists (to replace ACF repeaters) and with DC and Loopers they can see their edits real-time in cornerstone, instead of doing it in WP Admin and having to preview the page to see how it looks.

We have built hundreds of sites in Pro (started with X over 10 years ago) and it really has gotten to the point that it replaced a ton of custom dev or multiple clunky plugins. You all keep making it better and better. Keep up the great work. We manage many sites that were not built by us and use other page builders and the plug-in soup and inconsistencies are painful, so we know how ahead of the curve Pro is.

Thanks again.

You’re welcome, @NickMack. And, thank you for your feedback.
