Pages GONE!

Hi everybody,

quite disperate here.

I was finishing last pages of a site when I checked the homepage to find it BLANK, all gone I can only see navbar and revolution slider and debris of a section. Where’s my homepage?

In Cornerstore the page content it’s empty while in WP I can see some shortcodes.

The same happened to other 2 pages, all full of contents.
Please tell me that’s possible to recover we are supposed to go on line on monday!
I’ve got a backup but non recent enough to recover a lot of work.

What’s going on? how could closed pages simply disappear?

Hi @BYC,

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you try checking it again? It’s due to cache, clearing it doesn’t take any effect right away. But while on testing, it displays the content.

Thanks!

OK I’m doing a backup now and the I’ll try.

In the meantime I’ve also checked the previous version of the pages. It seems I could see the text but graphic is gone (so in the worst case I’m going to have a content’s version older then the one I’ve got on backup).

Do you suggest me to restore the last version of this pages before cleaning the cache or it doesn’t matter?

many thanks for your help

No way.

I’ve clear all cache but the pages won’t come back.

I’ve check one by one and the list of the missing one are longer of what I supposed: there are 13 pages with missing contents (aka cornerstone content it’s empty, all sections vanished).

What I can do?

Hi @BYC,

Ah, I thought there are missing pages with empty content. I checked the cornerstone builder and the contents and sections are still there.

Which page has this issue?

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

This are the pages with missing contents,
The two with star are recovered with WP previous version but graphic is gone (the one you attacheched is one of theme):

Club de navegación*
Electronica
Entreno Gennaker
Entreno Regata
Experiencias
Nosotros*
Preparacion al crucero
Regata CMPO
Salida Navegación
Talleres
Trofeo BYC
Viajes y regata de altura

Hi @BYC,

Some pages work but I’m able to confirm the issue and it’s because the data is corrupted. Have you migrated this site? Or edited the database? The only solution to recover the corrupted data is restoring the database, or perhaps the entire site.

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

no migration neither edit the database.
The entire site was made directly in Cornerstone.

This should be an issue related it and to Xtheme.

Pages where done and closed, I was working on the page called Actividades & Talleres when I opened the one called Nosotros from Cornestore discovering that it’s gone.

There’s a way (some tools) to restoring the database without a recent backup?

My costumer is widely complaining about the stability of XTheme and my choice of using it.
There’s really nothing you can do?

Hello There,

Most hosting providers has this feature. I would recommend that you ask further assistance from the hosting provider and let theme restore to a back up in a certain point in time or could be the last time you remember that those pages was working. Any changes made after time may not be included in the backup. Maybe you can revert back several hours or a day backup. Your hosting provider should be able to help you with this backups.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

After days (and nights) redoing the work I realized something.

In many pages are missing not only contents but header and footer and are lost also css styles and Js inserted. So the pages have really been corrupted.
Pages on which I was not directly working in Cornerstone and parts of these pages that Cornerstone does not manage from the Content (where I was working) but from the Options section.

I would like you to explain me what happened. As I said I’m serving a customer and I need to avoid it happens again.

many thanks

Hi @BYC,

It’s due to corrupted data, Wordpress uses serialized data to store it in the database. If it’s corrupted then the data will be unreadable and will result to empty. It’s not an issue with the theme or cornerstone, it could happen on any theme and plugin that relies on serialized data. It could happen on widgets too (gone widgets) after migration or database editing.

I myself really want to know what happened too, but our investigation only leads to a single cause, the corrupted data and it happened to all data. The only solution, for now, is to do the restoration of the entire site to when it’s still working.

It’s not the theme or cornerstone that creates serialized data, but Wordpress. All saving, inserting, deleting, selecting and updating are all done by Wordpress and it only provides API to the theme and plugins to initiate the action after passing the data.

Thanks!
