Page Templates after Layout Builder

Hello theme.co team!

First, I want to thank you so much for the new layout builder and the other great features that have come out.
(You make the life of simpler theme developers a bit hard )

My question is if the page templates as they are now aren’t becoming obsolete?

I can already design everything completely free and define at a line if I want to have a container, as well as at the page settings a header and a footer want or not. Even the widget bar I can define myself.

My guess is that there probably must be a backwards compatibility, am I right?

Thanks for your appreciation, there is no such plan to obsolete the page templates. There is nothing to do with Layout Builder and the Page Templates. Many users are using the X theme or Pro and other page builders where they need these page templates for constructing the site.
