it was vertical all along and suddenly became horizontal…im used to working with vertical outlines and cant seem to find a way to return it to vertical

Thank you for writing in, yes that is a feature of the builder. Please see the screenshot below to drag it back on the side.
Click and Drag
Release until you see the Blue highlights
