Option to add button is not working

Hi,

I’ve noticed the option to add buttons, line and quotes is no longer available on my site. I also get this message “Hold up! The content has been modified outside of Cornerstone. Editing in Cornerstone will replace the current content. Do you wish to continue?” for Cornerstone. So I always choose to not continue. It has been updated on my site. Do you know why I no longer have that option and how to get it back?

Are you looking for these options in Cornerstone? Please try to check and see that the Advanced Mode option is enabled.

If you are going to the edit page in the admin area and you are seeing shortcode text instead of the edit with Cornerstone button, it means that you have edited the page in text mode which might have affected the Cornerstone serialized data. If you have a backup of the page, you can just restore the page. If not, try clicking on continue then if you are seeing the complete contents in Cornerstone then it should be fine when you save it. If not, you will have to rebuild the page in Cornerstone.

Thanks for getting back to me. I get what you mean in the second part and will try that. The thing I never switched it myself, this option disappeared without me doing anything not sure if it happened during an update.

The first part where you mentioned making sure the Advanced Mode option is enabled, can you direct me to where I can get to that page you shared the screenshot of because I can’t see to find how to get there.

Hello There,

If you have updated the theme in the latest release, then that is why some of the options is not available because by default, the advance mode is disabled. You will have to go to X > Settings > Permissions > User Preferrence or Pro > Settings > Permissions > User Preferrence if you are using Pro theme.

The settings shared by @Jade is access if you are already editing a page in Cornerstone.

Please also keep in mind that you are not supposed to switched between editors. Editing the page outside of cornerstone might corrupt cornerstone data thus leaving the changes outside of cornerstone not being save when you go back to Cornerstone edit live preview.

Hi RueNel,

Thanks for getting back to me. I found the X settings you referred to and it’s on user preference. Since as I shared before I cannot see the icon that was that before that allowed me to add quotes or a button or lines or my page or post, I put it on always on and it’s still not showing. Can you direct me to which icon I’m suppose to have as I’m not getting why I no longer have that option?

Now I’m having to copy and paste to add a line or quote and I need to add new buttons to other pages.

Now I know what you are looking for. You can enable the add legacy shortcode by going to X > Settings > Show Legacy Shortcode Generator.
