Opengraph info for under construction not correct

Below is a link to the website I have yoast installed to add SEO for it. When viewing the page you can see the meta data correctly. But if you scrape by facebook this info changes to defaults including the tagline going to WordPress Blog and it looks like it isn’t seeing any the info. If I switch that plugin off and make the page a home page it works correctly but when switching off it reverts again.

The current scrap is with the under contruction page off but it is actually turned on now just did that so could get a correct pull for facebook.

Hi Quentin,

I’ve just shared your website on the Facebook and everything looks good now:

Can you confirm it on your end?

Thank you.

Hi Thai,

This is because I turned the construction part off then did a new scrape with facebook debugger tool. Because if I do a new scrap with it on it doesn’t work. So basically this is a semi solution as I don’t know how often Facebook makes a new scrape of the website for meta info and would have to effectively check facebook continuos to see if it has and then turn off the construction mode and request a new scrape of the website meta data.

Looking at other tickets it sounded like this may be caused by how the construction page redirects?

Hi Quentin,

Is your Under Construction page is a custom page? Please set the metadata of that page as well. And please make sure to turn off the Theme Options > Social > Open Graph since you’re already using Yoast SEO to avoid conflict.

Thanks,

Hi Friech,

I have confirmed open graph is off now looks like it was by default and yes this is a custom page and yoast info added to that specific page. Seems facebook doesn’t scrape often so not as big of a deal with my above workaround so not high priority but I might setup a test site to show this error so you can use facebook scraper tool to see the issue first hand and look into it maybe with login details.

Hi @quentosity,

I’m not sure if it’s required, but under construction should always return Service Temporarily Unavailable for SEO purposes and not shareable. The under construction only display the content of the page you assign to it, but not its SEO data.

I personally see no point is making a site shareable when it’s basically shouldn’t be accessible by blocking it with an under construction page. That’s just my opinion, though, I can add this as a feature request. But yes, it’s not shareable at this moment.

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

Ok thanks for confirming that makes sense. Yes adding a feature request thanks the reason for being sharable is because before the site goes live offline marketing is already being done for the company so people will find the page and also get the page added to social media to show that a website is coming and others to share that it is coming. And others that want to share the website waiting will often via social media so having opengraph / SEO work makes sense.

Could you also point me in the right direction of feature requests before you close this ticket.

Hi Quentin,

I have submitted this as a feature request, so that our developers can review it further. There’s no guarantee that a particular feature request is taking into consideration or we cannot provide any ETA.

Thanks for understanding!
