Oops! Something went wrong. Map is not displaying on home page or MEC

Hi Team X,

I updated cornerstone and X and now the Google Map is not working at the bottom of our page or on the MEC event pages - both display the same error. Please advise the steps to get the maps to display again.

Hey @DeeDesign,

Your setup seems correct and it looks like there is no conflict so the issue might be in your API key. Though it worked in the past, there might have been an update in Google Maps that requires the change of your API. Try using a new API key.

Thank you @christian_y - I have updated the google API (billing updates) and now the map flashes (quick blink for me) the correct display and then back to the Opps error… next step in troubleshooting please?

exactly the same on the MEC pages - quick flash of the correct map and then the error appears on top… standing by :thinking:

Hello There,

Upon loading the page, the Google API library returns this error message:

Google Maps JavaScript API error: InvalidKeyMapError

This would mean that the API key included in the script element that loads the API is not found. Please make sure you are using a correct API key. You can generate a new API key on the Google Cloud Platform Console.

I tried again - generated a new key (same steps as yesterday) and this time it worked :slight_smile: not sure why, as you can see in the note below it was in the same method same copy and paste… but happy to have the maps back.
