Onepage - Faster

Dear Themeco

Having read your performance guide and completed all sorts of optimisations including resizing images for their largest containers, w3 total cache to minify & javascript consolidating. The single page version of our website is still very slow to load. http://fionacampbelldesign.co.uk/elegant-luxury-interior-design-london-2/ We are after a solution that will be quick enough possibly even just for the elements visible above the fold at first but one that keeps visitors on our site. Can you help?

The assortment of elements on the page and the inability to modify the html directly limits our ways to improve the page speed. We are unsure if it can be improved further - we don’t understand how a relatively simple layout of a page draws large computer resources to render and significant time to load.

Maybe is there a way to upgrade to the Pro or a plugin that we might need to use to speed it further. All and any help would be appreciated. Best and thanks

AC

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! Are you using a Firefox extension only? Please try one of the most used online tool: https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/eAOFwY/http://fionacampbelldesign.co.uk/elegant-luxury-interior-design-london-2/

You will get different response from different server.

And you may apply CloudFlare for more caching.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I didn’t want to return until we had investigated further. Sorry for the delay. Having done so - we tested with pingdom, their site appears to say things are better than they appear, and puts a ‘Google PageSpeed’ as a B, 82/100

But when on Google’s actual PageSpeed page it gets a Red Poor, 64/100 (and 66/100 for Desktop)

There is some work that needs to be done to optimize the site one way or the other, could you help us do this? Caching is good for return users but we need a site that loads well on first visit, it is key for us.

The site takes around 5 seconds first load/start rendering and around 10 seconds to fully load!

Also tested with webpagetest.org

All the speed test images referenced above are in the uploaded image.

We look forward to your reply and to being able to get this site moving at a satisfactory speed with your help.

Thanks and best

AC

Hi there,

First thing first I will recommend that you have a backup of your website and then update the theme to version 5.1.1.

You are using very old version of the theme and there are many code improvements during the course of time in our theme.

There are 2 factors which are outside of our control and honestly, the speed optimization of the website is outside of our support scope, but I will try to explain the 2 factors in details:

Hosting Service Provider

It is important that you test your website with another hosting service provider, as whatever you do code wise if your hosting is slow the site will not improve as you expect. I am not saying that the hosting is slow, just suggesting that you can do a test regarding this and see the result.

Multipurpose Theme

Our theme is a general purpose one and has virtually unlimited functionality and features. Such features come with a cost. You can not compare a website created by a multipurpose theme with a hand coded website. There are many resources may load that you do not use necessarily in a page which is inevitable to have on themes such ours. We did our best to make sure only specific resources will be used when needed but we can not curate it for each use case. On the other hand ripping the theme apart to make it lighter will be a far more difficult job as it may break other parts and we surely advise you do not take that path.

Thank you for your understanding.
