On Contact Form 7, if there's generic text within the field instead of outside it, could it disappear when you click on the box instead of having to select and delete the text?

Hi, I’ve done a small form with just an email address needed with Contact Form 7, and instead of the label being to the side of the field, I’ve put it within it. Is there any way the text in the field ‘enter your email’ could disappear when you click on the box, instead of having to delete it first before typing in your email address?

I’ll put the URL in a secure note as it’s on a temp link at the minute.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Sure! I think you are looking for the placeholder text.

Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks, but I can’t find where it says how to do it so when someone clicks on to enter their email address, the placeholder texts disappears without them having to select it all and delete it first.

Thanks!

Hi @core365,

It more related to javascript functionality of the form, I recommend contacting the plugin author as we’re not fully familiar with the features integrated to each field.

Thanks!

Ah ok, will do, thanks!

You’re welcome!

I’ve just went onto the Contact Form 7 forum and I realised I didn’t understand/read properly the placeholder text that @Jade gave me the info for, as that was what I needed! I thought what I’d already done what was called the placeholder text, but I needed to actually put the word ‘placeholder’ into the form itself! It’s as I want it now!

Thanks @Jade !!!

You’re most welcome. Glad we’re able to help @core365.
