Older Demos

I’ve been reading on the previous Demos being done away with and being replaced with the new design cloud demos, blocks, etc.

I just did a fresh install of X and all there is available is the Design Cloud. I was expecting to be able to install a demo, but can’t find a couple of the ones I’m looking for. I thought only Pro had the Design Cloud? If X and Pro both have Design Cloud, then what are the differences between X and Pro other than the header and footer builder?

I would really like to be able to install a couple of the demos. I like to (1.) use them as a starting point and then make necessary changes and (2.) learn from them to see how they are made in order to see what works best for my own site.

Is there any way at all to be able to install a couple of the older demos?

Thank you!

Hello Karen,

Thanks for writing in!

Please be advised that the X theme is for beginners and intermediate users. This is why in the previous versions, we have several demo contents that they can import to start with their new site. Pro theme, on the other hand, is geared towards intermediate and more advanced users like designers and developers that usually create a site from scratch. This is also why originally the demo contents were not present in Pro theme.

We have changed our policy and made the Design Cloud available for both X theme and Pro theme. We only retained a few of the demos which we think best apply with the latest HTML and CSS styles since we have introduced the new GRID layout and element in Pro.

The only different between Pro and X theme is that the Pro theme has the header and footer builder and the new Grid Layout and the new Grid element.

Please check out release notes:

What happened to Standard and Expanded demos?
Our former Expanded Demos are now called Sites and are included as part of Design Cloud. Importing a Site from Design Cloud works just like installing an Expanded Demo previously.

We have retired Standard Demos, although we will taking a select few of those designs and making new Sites from them.

If you need to access the old demo contents, please revert or install the older version of the theme like X 7.0 or later. You can actually get the previous stable version right in your dashboard. Once you have the old standard demo that you want, you can then update to the latest version which is X 7.1.2.

Hope this helps.
