Not possible to use component or template features with slide elements?

I’ve upgraded to Pro 6. I was excited to use components, but I immediately ran into some trouble with them.

The element that I want to make into a reusable component is a slide. I created a slider (inline) and exported one of its slides as a component, but I don’t see any way to add that component to a slide container element. The only elements I can add to a slide container are built-in slide elements.

So I thought, “Okay, instead I’ll just export the grid element inside the slide as a component. Then I’ll create ordinary slide elements, apply a preset to each one for styling, and add the grid component to each one.” But I can’t do that either, because applying a preset to an existing element is no longer possible—you can only add presets/templates as new elements. And again, the slide container element can only contain built-in slide elements. I can create a template of a slide element, but I can’t add my templated slide element to a slide container.

I suppose I can clone existing slides and use the grid component inside them. That’s not terrible. But it’s sort of disappointing that this neat new feature doesn’t work for slides.

Or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hey @fundibu,

Thanks for writing in! Not having been able to apply the presets as we used to in Pro 5 is a known issue. We already informed our developers about the issue. In Pro 6, you can still be able to apply a preset with a few extra steps. Kindly check out this video:

By the way, we have added this as a feature request.

Best Regards.

Hi @ruenel,

Okay, thanks for the info! I’ll try that.

Being able to use slides as components would be really great! Thanks for adding the feature request.

You are most welcome.
