Not able to edit with cornerstoe

Hey guys, so all of my pages are now showing the message that if I edit with cornerstone I’ll lose my work. These pages have all been created 100% with cornerstone, NEVER with ext or visual editors. And now I cannot edit with cornerstone, because it is claiming I have edited outside of cornerstone, which is not true.

It seems like, from the facebook support group, that this is a common issue, which I hope is not true, because that would mean that this amazing theme that I have purchased multiple licenses for, has a MAJOR, and RIDICULOUS flaw. Please tell me it is not true.

The only option I’ve seen is to do a restore, which means I’m going to have to republish dozens of blog posts that have been added.

Please help. Thank you.

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! Did you try to edit your pages outside Cornerstone ?

Try deleting your Cornerstone plugin and then head over to X -> Overview section and wait for few seconds to install a fresh version. Then test editing your pages again.

Make sure to purge your server cache before testing.

Thanks!

Hi. I have not done any editing outside of Cornerstone.
I will try this. Thank you.

Cornerstone is not showing up as available to download. Am I missing something?

Ok. When I deleted cornerstone, it then showed me at the top of “Overview” screen that cornerstone had been installed but not activated. This happened without me clicking anywhere to install. Nonetheless, I went and activated it. I then cleared my cache. But the issue is still occurring.

Hey @enimultimedia,

Cornerstone’s page builder data is stored as serialized data in the post meta table of your database. The post meta are data that are stored along side the post and are commonly used for admin related functions. If something deletes the data, Cornerstone will have nothing to process and will start a blank builder.

Here are the possible causes for this issue:

  1. Something in your system deletes post meta data. It could be a plugin like a database cleaner or optimizer or something in your host that modifies the database.

  2. You have migrated your site and have not included the serialized post meta data.

Can you tell us your website activity before this issue happened?

Thanks.

That’s actually the weird part here: No new plugins or unusual activity has happened. I do not have a database cleaner or optimizer or anything like that. I have not migrated the site.

The only activity that happened between Day 1 (when I was able to edit pages with cornerstone) and Day 2( When this error started) was the publishing of 1 single blog post.

Hi there,

In that case, please provide your site’s URL and admin login credentials in a secure note so we could directly check it. Are you on shared hosting? Sites on shared hosting has a similar and random behavior depending on the available resource due to traffic from multiple sites on the same machine.

Thanks!

We’re on GoDaddy Managed Wordpress hosting.

Hi There,

One possible solution would be to contact your hosting provider and ask them to restore a previous backup which worked for you. Also ask them to check your server log files to see if there’s any unusual activity.

For further investigation, we will require your login credentials. You can submit the following information in a secure note:

  • Site URL
  • WordPress login credentials
  • FTP credentials

Thanks!
