Non-standard fonts causing website to be slow?

Hello,

I have a wee query about fonts.

I have used Montserrat for headings on my client’s website, as it was available as a selection using Cornerstone to design the site.

But font loading seems to be affecting page speeds for the site. I would like to stick with Montserrat for the font because it fits the client’s brand. However, I need to be able to optimise the speed of the website as much as possible as well.

I have read about being able to use css code to avoid ‘invisible text’ and force browsers to use a webfont while the actual font loads - how would I achieve this in the X theme and Cornerstone?

Hi Gary,

Thank you for writing in, Please navigate to Font Manager and see the Font Display options, try using swap

More details about font display here.

Another thing, also on the Font Manager, on your font Montserrat declaration please make sure you only enable the font-weight that your need. Having all the font-weight loaded can increase the size of the font.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!
