No editing possible after update

Hi!

I can’t edit any content after the latest update of everything. I have tried activating Pro instead of Child and I have tried deactivating all plugins. Still same problem. How do we solve this?

I have the same issue on my staging site.
Both sites are on PHP 7.1, Apache 2.4

EDIT:

Also, The Grid seems to be F:ed up some way now. Please see images below. Visible front-end: [cs_undefined name=”dekor”]

Hi @Lobsterass,

I’ve confirmed this is a bug that happens when you have an older version of The Grid active. You should simply see “Undefined Element” for the location of the Grid element itself, but rather all the elements on the page appear broken. I’ve corrected this for the next point release.

However, you should be able to resolve this now by simply updating The Grid to the latest version.

OK, done. Thanx.

My custom blog page https://monroedesign.se/grafisk-design-uppat-vaggarna-blogg/ and my custom shop page https://monroedesign.se/vaggdekor-shop/ still show the code from The Grid front-end though. How do I fix that?

Can you try saving those pages again? That would cause the shortcodes to rebuild.

It doesn’t work to resave them.

Hello @Lobsterass,

Could you please update to the latest release versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.0.2
  • Cornerstone 4.0.2

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.

I’m using Pro, not X.

The custom-designed blog and shop pages were created back when the site was X, though. Therefore they were only editable back-end. It’s been a pain in the butt after the update but I redid the pages and they sort of look the way I want again.

Thanx!

Hello @Lobsterass,

Thanks for updating in! Since you are using Pro, please make sure that you have the Pro 3.0.2 version. And after doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches especially if you have installed WP Rocket plugin so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors. And please clear your browser cache too. You may use private browsing mode in testing your site to make sure that you are viewing the latest codes from the updates and not the cached version in your browser.

This links might help:

You might as well temporarily disable the WP Rocket’s minify feature so that the latest updates will be served and not the old cached and minified files in WPRocket.

Hope this helps.

Thanx, but like I wrote above, I did update everything as well as I deactivated child and all plugins. I usually turn of WP Rocket whenever I’m working on the site and I always clear cashe afterards.

I believe this issue was caused by not future proof code. Regardless, I redid it all so it works now, allthough I would have liked to add some 90 pix empty space underneath the paragraph on my shop page https://monroedesign.se/vaggdekor-shop/ when viewed from a laptop and desktop.

This is what I got back-end there:

Hi there,

We’re currently being blocked by Wordfence.

So I cannot login to experience what you’re experiencing on the back-end right now.

Anyway, are you seeing those code on the default Wordpress Editor and not on the Pro Builder preview screen?

If so, perhaps clicking the Edit with Pro button will do the trick, if you haven’t tried doing that yet.

This thread is getting riddiculous. Please hand me over to the normal support team.

I’ve built a bunch of sites with Pro using Pro editor. Like stated earlier in this thread, the reason the shop page and the blog page were edited back-end is that it’s the way to make the custom design work, as far as I understand it. Feel free to suggest another solution with the same functions intact.

The reason you’re blocked out via WordFence is because you are located in a country I get too many hacking attempts from. What country are you located in? Are you able to use another country via VPN perhaps?

Hi @Lobsterass,

Using shortcodes for The Grid directly in the builder has been known to cause issues with the live preview. I’ve replaced that shortcode with a “The Grid” element.

The easiest way to add spacing would be to add another Gap element (or use one of the existing Gaps on the page). You can go to the Customize section while Inspecting a Gap to hide the element on Desktop breakpoints. This would give you a little more space on mobile.

Hi @alexander!

I can’t see where you made that change and that makes me wonder if you edited the correct page or some other page :grimacing:?

What page did you edit?

I’m trying to add a 90 px vertical empty gap below the text (as seen in attached image) only on 980 px screens and bigger.

I don’t have access to the builder on this shop page so the way I added the shortcode was by making another page with Pro builder. I then went back-end on that page and copied the short code via the WordPress code editor. I then pasted that shortcode back-end of the correct shop page.

I edited the URL you linked earlier: https://monroedesign.se/vaggdekor-shop/ It was the Swedish translation, I see what you mean on the English version now. It would be best to just make that page work in the builders. You can do this by:

  • Have the the English version open in a new tab.
  • Open the Swedish version in Pro and click Save Template
  • Name the template and click save.
  • Edit the English version in Pro and bypass the warning about losing your content.
  • Use Load Template and insert the template you saved previously.
  • Now you have the exact design from the Swedish version. You could switch to the English page tab and copy/paste the content.

That should resolve the issue of not being able to edit the page, while also giving you more control over the design and spacing because you can easily use the builder elements.

Thanx for trying but it’s not possible to edit either lanuage with Pro builder.

I’m using plenty of templates.

Hey @Lobsterass,

The problem with editing the English Shop page with Cornerstone is a server related one. Something in your server, usually ModSecurity, is blocking the cornerstone-endpoint directory. Please have your web host investigate why the said directory returns a 500 Internal Server Error.

The English page also is assigned as WooCommerce Shop page using WPML.

Regarding the Swedish Shop page, it can’t be edited by Cornerstone because it’s assigned as the WooCommerce shop page.

Since you’re using The Grid already to display your products, I’d recommend that you unlink or unassign those pages from WPML so they become regular pages and they can be edited using the builder.

Thanks.

OK! Good, progress. I’ll contact my host.

I know how to translate regular pages in Cornerstone now (even though this site was done with WPML string translations).

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do I unlink my shop pages from WPML?

Hello @Lobsterass,

WPML does link/unlink shop pages. You can assign the shop pages in WooCommerce > Settings.
The WPML will only translate any posts or pages.

I hope this explains it briefly.
