Hello,
I am looking to implement this design on my homepage. How can I get the 3 most recent press releases and news posts displayed on the homepage with the design as shown in this screenshot. What is the best way to go about this? I tried the essential grid but am having all sorts of problems with the boxes not being responsive if there is too much content in them. The date and buttons keep getting cut off. Is there a better way to do this? Thank you
Hello @Jennine,
Thanks for writing in!
There are several ways you can display the post items from Press Releases and Top News on your homepage.
One: You can make use of the “Classic Recent Posts” element in Cornerstone/Pro Editor. You will have a limited design option though as you can only select the category or the number of up to 4 items to display. No design option like color, excerpts, or read more button to display.
Two: You can make use of the 3rd party plugins such as the Essential Grid or TheGrid plugin. Each of these plugins enables you to display post items in a grid-like manner. You can edit the grid skin too. Both of these plugins have their own grid skin editor.
Three: Or; you can layout a section with two rows. In the last row, you can set up a three-column layout and then insert headline, text elements, and a button element. In each of these elements, you can make use of the dynamic content functionality to display the post title, post date, post excerpt and a button link to the single post.
Hope this helps.
ok thank you. Which option of those three will allow me to implement the two different designs for press release and news post the best?
I am trying to find how to add the post category dynamically but I don’t see the option for that. Am I missing it? Thanks
Hey @Jennine,
If you’re looking for some kind of category filter, it’s not yet available using the Dynamic Content. You currently need to use specific posts.
We will have our very own Post Grid feature which will be under our soon coming Layout Builder so this particular case will get covered. In case you want to learn more about the Layout Builder, the details were posted in our June Status Report here https://theme.co/content/status-report-june-02-2020
If you’ll use either Essential Grid or The Grid, it’s best that you use the Masonry grid type as the Even one only allows 1 aspect ratio throughout all screen sizes so you get the cropping issue.
Hope that helps.
