New Update Issues

Hello,

I am having an issue on one domain when I am updating. When I first updated I received a critical error and was unable to access the dashboard or site.

This is the error:

Error Details

=============

An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 8 of the file /var/www/wp-content/themes/pro/cornerstone/includes/classes/classic/utility/class-shortcode-preserver.php. Error message: Cannot declare class Cornerstone_Shortcode_Preserver, because the name is already in use

I used wp recovery mode to access the site and switch the theme to a default theme, the site then worked. I exited recovery mode and removed Pro and Pro Child. I then reinstalled Pro and things seem normal, but the social icons in the header and footer are way off. Also, there is a weird hamburger menu-looking element in the header now, not sure why. Finally, I am unable to edit a page, access theme options, etc. I receive a 404 error each time I try to perform a normal action in Pro/Cornerstone.

The domain is https://faithhopeinaction.ca/.

Hi @mattcaldwell,

This could happen if the previous version wasn’t fully deleted during the update process. I would recommend using the WordPress theme uploader to install Pro again. It will prompt you to replace the existing version. This should get things up and running again.

Hi Alex,

I did use the wordpress theme uploader when I reinstalled Pro and it did not prompt me to replace the files. :frowning:

Hi @mattcaldwell,

I check the site and did not see a noticeable issue on the header and footer, social icons look fine. The issue I see on the header is it seems your logo is removed from your library, so you need to re-upload the logo and re-set that from Theme Options > Header area.

This could be a caching-related issue, please clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Also, try re-saving your permalinks under Settings > Permalinks (don’t change anything, just re-save it.)

If nothing works, please provide us login credentials in a “Secure Note” so we can take a closer look.

Cheers!
