New Slider - lazy load images

I’m liking the new slider element, but have run into a performance problem with an image slider. When I tested my page I saw in the waterfall that all the images in the slider had to load before the rest of the page could load. Is there anyway to have the non visible images (stacked slider) lazy load?

+1, this would be a good addition to the Slider element.

Thanks for reaching out.
The speed of the page mostly depends on the content and the images used. I would suggest you add the specific demo slider to a blank page and check the same for it.
If that is fine, change the images one by one by checking the score, and modifying the image which creates the problem.

Even with optimized images lazy loading is still a good idea. Please do consider adding lazy loading to the Slider element.
