New Safari update messes up text links

Hi,

After updating Safari (Version 15.0 (15612.1.29.41.4, 15612) some text links are not clickable.
I run the latest WP, Pro theme and all plugins are up to date.

The probleem is Safari only. Chrome works fine.

Hey Marcus,

The only difference I could currently see is the 2nd link in your screenshot is inside a column with an effect applied. Please try deactivating all column Effects.

Also, please ensure that no 3rd party plugin and custom code is causing the issue. Please temporarily deactivate all 3rd party plugins and remove custom codes and JS in your site. If your site is live, it’s recommended that you copy your live site to a staging server and test there.

If the issue persists after implementing the suggestions above, please give us the following info in a Secure Note

  • WordPress Login URL since wp-admin nor wp-login.php doesn’t work
  • Admin username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

Thanks.

Hi,

As said in my previous message. It happens only on Safari (after update). Chrome is fine.
We want to keep the effects so deactivating is not an option… and there’s no 3rd party code causing the issue.

When I select and deselect the text-link it becomes interactive and it works.

Check Chrome please. Thx!

Hey Marcus,

I believe you misunderstood me. I understand the issue is in Safari and I did not say anything about Chrome.

I also understand that but we need to test. It’s just to test.

This sounds like a focus issue but we need to test what’s causing this. Please confirm if the effects is causing this. Or, you could give us WordPress admin access as previously asked.

I’m now confused as you said the issue is in Safari 15 but now you want to test in Chrome? The links work in Chrome as well as Safari 14.

Hi,

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It is correct. Issue is only on safari 15. When I disable the effect the links are working fine.

Hey Marcus,

Thank you for confirming. Now that we’ve isolated it, can you try narrowing down reducing the Offsets to 0 first then if the issue persists, try reducing the Transition to 0.

We’ll post the result of your test in our issue tracker to help our development team with the investigation.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

I tried what you suggested but still the same problem.

@christian,

I just noticed there’s an update for Safari to 15.1 and the problem is solved! Yeah!!!
:grinning:

Hi Marcus,

Glad that it is resolved now.

Thanks

Thx for the support!

You are most welcome, Marcus.
