hello, my cornerstone is more complicated to use than the one i have used previously to make websites. How can i get my back end to look like this with the background type section. see attached
instead of this
Thanks for writing in! When we release the latest X theme, we have introduced v2 elements. These elements has more advanced controls in it compared to the classic elements. You can turn off the v2 elements and have the option to only use the classic elements. In order to do that, please go to X > Settings > Permissions and turn off all the v2 elements.
To know more about this Permission Manager, please check out changelog: https://theme.co/changelog/#theme-pro-2-1-0-theme-x-6-1-0-cornerstone-3-1-0 or in our knowledge base: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/permissions/32879/1
Hope this helps.
It still isn’t letting me do the background image option or the options like before where it was simple to change the background color.
I want to make a video of photo the entire back ground image for the first section, how to i do that?
Is there a way I can use the cornerstone from 2017 I think thats the year where it was much easier to use?
Could you please confirm that you have updated to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:
- X theme 6.1.6
- Cornerstone 3.1.6
This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).
_After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.-
Please be advised the X 6.1.6 does not work with Cornerstone 2.x.x. To assist you better with this issue, would you mind providing us the url of your site with login credentials so we can take a closer look?

I just checked it on a different computer and it still is not the classic cornerstone and does not have the option for a background image. It also does have the options to even delete an image I place on the homepage.
Thanks for sharing the details.
I checked your website and have noticed few things:
- There is a X Theme and Cornerstone update. I encourage you to update the same. Please take a look at our update guide for instructions on updating the theme and plugin.
2. Under Settings > General > User Preference > Advanced Mode, please select Always On.
- However, something quite odd that I noticed was that in when I opened the page in Cornerstone, I don’t see search icon. I only see duplicate and delete option.
There might be a case of some broken update. I suggest you to completely delete Cornerstone from Plugins > Installed Plugins. After that visit X > Validation to automatically install Cornerstone and see if search icon is sowing up.
Please make sure to clear cache, you can take a look at following article for more information:

Still not working…
I deleted cornerstone, reinstalled it, updated it and still it is not allowing me to edit easily or show the background image part. also like you said the search icon is missing.
Thanks for updating the thread.
Please activate V2 elements from X > Settings > Macros > Enable All V2 elements. I have made the changes from here and now you can ad background images and also search icon is also showing up. Here is a screencast. https://cloudup.com/cSRBlYgdP07
In case you don’t want to activate all the V2 elements then you just need to revert above changes. Next, if you don’t want to enable all the V2 elements then you have the option to selectively enable V2 elements as per your requirements from X > Settings > V2 Elements.
I would highly encourage you to please take a look at our changelog page for more details on permissions manager and also following article.
Your Cornerstone is now working fine. I suggest you to please clear browser cache and try opening the page in Cornerstone.
Let us know how it goes.
