New components not being added / can't drag and drop elements

Hi there - I have two problems:

  1. I’ve tried making several new components, and none of them is showing up in the list. Further, I did have one existing component, which I tried changing, but the changes didn’t reflect in the instances of the component I had added to another page. This problem is the same in Safari and Chrome. NOTE: I’m only having this problem with one installation, as far as I know. But I’ve cleared cache and disabled plugins, and that’s not fixing it. Further, the site is hosted on Cloudways just like my other sites, and PHP is 7.4. I’m on the latest WP and the latest Pro, running with the Pro Child theme.

1a. Furthermore, a long time ago I had managed to make a component and have it show up in the list. However, now when I change an aspect of the component and save it, the change is not reflected where I inserted the component, and if I place a new instance of the component, it still looks like it used to.

  1. Dragging and dropping elements into the layout doesn’t work in Safari for me. This problem is happening in all of my installations – definitely seems to be a Pro/Safari problem.

I updated the OS and Safari, and both are now current. I have also purged Cornerstone’s cache. No changes.

I’ll add a temp login to the secure note.

Update: for questions 1 and 1a, I have discovered that activating another theme and then reactivating the Pro Child theme then makes the new components show up and changed components take effect.

It appears that now new components will keep showing up in the list as expected. HOWEVER: any changes to the components will not be reflected in their instances unless I do the same switcheroo activating another theme/reactivating the Pro Child theme.

Doing the switcheroo does nothing for the drag and drop problem – that appears to be persistent with Safari. It’s been this way for a while, as I recall.

This is obviously not a good permanent solution.

Further update: if I change a component, then open the page in Cornerstone where that component is active, and resave that page, then the website updates correctly without having to do the theme switcheroo.

Still not a good permanent solution, though.

Hi @cheshiredave,

The temporary login link is not working anymore and is redirecting to the Home page. Can you please reshare the credentials for further investigation?

Thanks

I don’t know why that got deleted. Here’s a new link.

Just checking on this…

Please, any help? It’s been several days.

This has gotten extremely frustrating. It’s now been over a week without any help.

I’m experiencing the same issue with components exported not showing up to be selected for other pages. I’ve tried activating another theme and then going back but still no luck. This is a major problem for us as well and would also really love some feedback from support.

Hi @cheshiredave,

I have checked and found that components can be dragged and dropped into a different section. If that is not the case, please provide any video that helps us to recognize the problem.

Thanks

Hi @Tristup,

I’ve provided screenshot of my example.
First image shows that i’ve created an export element with the name N2024 - Blog -a1.
Second image shows where i’ve created a new page where I’d like to place the export element, however it doesn’t show up in the Elements dropdown.

Hi @tristup

Did you confirm that you can drag and drop using Safari? I did mention that this works in Chrome but not Safari.

Also, you did not address the other Safari problem of created components not necessarily showing up, as someone else demonstrated above.

Here is a screen recording that shows what happens when I try to drag/drop. You can see that it’s not just components but ANY element. Please note that this is the latest Safari on the latest OS. Also I have tried it without plugins activated, after clearing cache, etc. Still having the same exact issue. I can’t upload video here, but here’s a link to download the screen recording:

Thanks,
Cheshire

Hey @cheshiredave,

We can no longer log in to your site using the provided login link. Please update the link.

We also have forwarded this issue to our developers for further investigation.

Best Regards.

Hi,
I’ve the same problem, the elements can’t be added from the elements section to the page using drag & drop. Otherwise, dragging elements between columns, sections or cells in the page works well.

The other ways to add elements like the ‘+’ works well

I’ve experienced this issue of Drag & Drop just in Safari, it works well in Chrome.

All the best

@ruenel You are killing me with this. If you didn’t take over a week to get to it, it would still be active. I have extended it again. Please use the same link I gave you previously.

Also, please note Juanjo’s confirmation of my problem.

Thanks,
Cheshire

Bumping this for @ruenel

This is super frustrating. It’s been nearly three weeks since I opened this thread.

Please bear with us.

thank you – an update like this is all I was asking for.
