Nested looper shows content in preview, but not live

Using ACF & CPTs, I’ve created “Destinations” & “Airlines”.

On Destination pages, the airlines that fly there are displayed in a loop.

I have another loop on a Direct Flight page, where I have all of the Destinations looping on the page.

Here’s the problem that I’m experiencing…

Each of the Destinations on the Direct Flight page is setup using a Flip Card. The Destination’s featured image is on the front and a shortcode of the associated Airlines is on the back.

In the builder, I’m seeing the first card display as expected… but ONLY the first card. It’s not showing on the second, third, etc etc.

On the front end, the back of the card (Airline Shortcode) isn’t showing at all.

I read on another post about this potentially being a known issue that’s being worked on. I am unsure if this is that, so I thought I’d try and post here. It’s about the only thing preventing me from launching this site, so it’s kind of driving me nuts.

Any suggestions?

Hi

  1. What kind of a “loop” is it? Custom or some looper provided by the themeco theme/cornerstone?
  2. What data do you feed into the “flip card” (what ever solution it is)? Or how do you fetch the content of the CPTs?

Which of the heuristics is correct: An airline has many destinations or a destination has many airlines?

thank you for getting back with me! I’m working with my team to get our dev environment published. as soon as that’s online, I’ll reply back with credentials and links. as of now, the only install is a local build… which doesn’t quite work.

Hi @splaquet,

Please let us know once your website is ready to access.

Thanks

I’ve got everything setup now. I’ve shared credentials in secure note.

Hi @splaquet,

Unfortunately, the given credentials are not working. Can you please check and send it once again ?

Thanks

I super apologize. I have no idea what happened, but it’s all set now. I tested it out myself.

I just realized that the editor is changing some of the characters. here’s one w/o any special characters.

also, the site is heavily cache with CloudFront. the backend (wp-admin) should display correctly, but front end will most likely need a CloudFront cache flush.

Hi @splaquet,

I am able to log in now, but when I investigated, I did not find the exact component where you are facing the issue. Can you please share the exact component and page where we can investigate it? Also, if you can share any screencasting video that will help us recognize the problem.

Thanks

here’s the page:

here’s the component:

I’ll take a screencast now.

Hello @splaquet,

It seems that you cannot pass a dynamic content custom field inside a component. I have created a demo at the bottom of the current Destination component. You may need to redesign and display something else at the back of the card.

  • See the secure note below.

Thanks.

AHHHH! …well, I feel a little better knowing that I did have it correctly setup.

when you say component, is that implying that the card is a component or that the shortcode is considered a component? (I’m just trying to understand the logic behind it)

also, is this be a limitation of the Card element or an ACF limitation?

if it’s the Card element, would it be possible to pass this over to dev team as a new feature?

Hey @splaquet,

It is the limitation of the component that you have inserted inside the back content of the Card element. Card element is also best to use as a child element and not as a container element.

Yes, we will also forward this to the dev team.

Cheers.

hmmm… thank you for the feedback.

with that being said, do you know if there’s any native solution that might produce the desired results?

Hello @splaquet,

You will have to create your own Card Flip element using the DIV element and the effects module.

In this way, you can incorporate this into your Looper and be able to achieve what you have in mind. Check out the demo in the secure note below.

Cheers.

wow, you rule! I was only looking for some insight… but you totally took it a step up for me!!! thank you, @ruenel

thank you so much for the help! it looks great now
