Navbar Icon not showing

Hi there,

the icon on my navbar is not showing on any of my multisite installations. Could you take a look at it?

Kind regards,

Atahualpa

Hello Atahualpa,

Thanks for writing in! You are experiencing caching issues. Since you have installed a caching plugin W3 Total Cache, please clear your plugin cache before testing your site. This can cause the changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

And I also noticed that you are using CloudFlare. You will need to login to your CloudFlare account and purge your site cache. It is best that you use the recommend CloudFlare settings for better results. You can check out this link: https://xthemetips.com/using-cloudflare-rocket-loader-with-x-pro-and-x5/928/8/

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Hi RueNel,

i have considered that problem and deactivated all caching on and offsite already and i made no difference.

Plus i turned all caching off and am working on a new page and the activated parallax effect for a background of a section isnt working either.

Would you please take a look at this as well?

Thank you sooo much!

Hi Atahualpa,

I just checked your sites within your multi-site setup and all icons are displaying okay in the navbar. May I know which icons aren’t displaying?

Thanks!

Right there
I checked in chrome, opera, firefox and internetexplorer. All the same. That search icon is missing.

Hi @AtahualpaSeyffert,

That’s weird, this is what I’m seeing

Could you try clearing your caches, or maybe the CloudFlare is still serving cache on your end, please disable it as well.

Thanks!

Thats interesting…
I even check different machines and i still get the same results. I even used a vpn to connect to a brasil ISP and i still get the same problem. I already disabled cloudflare and wordpress cache plugin completly. I will wait for tomorrow and see if the problem remains.

In the meanwhile, could you take a look at the parallax problem or should i open another ticket for that?

Hi @AtahualpaSeyffert,

Please open a new thread for parallax issue so we could easily track your existing thread. And so we can discuss issues one at a time

And please let us know about the cache issue.

Thanks!

Its Monday and all caching has been turned off since last week. Icon still doesnt appear for me. I still cross checke with Chrome, IE, Firefox and Opera. We also have an almost identical site in english. It updated everything there and it too doesnt work. All other icons display normally. Just the search icon. I also checked on a different machine and it is the same there too. I checke in private tab in Chrome and IE. Still no search icon… The only thing thats the same on the machines is the antivirus. So i disabled that too. No change. I also cleared cache in browsers and checked in chrome of the content settings might interfere. No luck. Everyhting else works fine… All other icons work perfectly…
I dont know what else to look for…

Hi @AtahualpaSeyffert,

Looks like the cache problem was my end, the icon arent’ displaying now too.

I checked and the cause of the issue is this block from your child theme’s functions.php,

$items .= '<li class="menu-item menu-item-navbar-search">'
                  . '<a href="#" class="x-btn-navbar-search">'
                    . '<i class="x-icon x-icon-search"></i><span class="x-hidden-desktop"> Suchen</span>'
                  . '</a>'
                . '</li>';

Please change it to this

$items .= '<li class="menu-item x-menu-item x-menu-item-search">'
                  . '<a href="#" class="x-btn-navbar-search">'
                    . '<span><i class="x-icon-search" data-x-icon-s="&#xf002;" aria-hidden="true"></i><span class="x-hidden-desktop"> Suchen</span></span>'
                  . '</a>'
                . '</li>';

Have you deactivated the child theme before?

Thanks!
