Multisite migration : Cornerstone unable to update

Hello,

I migrated all my theme x sites to a multisite and for the most part it is working fine except for updating Cornerstone (Currently 4.1.2).

Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin.

So I did some reading and revoked the license but that made things worse. Now I can’t even validate anymore.

Your code is valid but looks like it has already been used on another site. You can revoke and re-assign within your Themeco account.

I triple checked the URL in my account matches and it refuses to validate. I manually updated the theme and same thing.

I a lot of the forum posts I find are outdated, I can’t find a way to download cornerstone and install it manually either. But first I need to get the validate back. The other sites on the network are validated.

I spent too much time on this, how can I fix it?

Hello @friedcircuits,

Thanks for writing in! For multi site setup, you will have to update the X theme and Cornerstone manually. This is because only the main site can be registered to be validated. It is much easier if you update the theme and Cornerstone plugin manually instead. To know more about how you can update the theme and Cornerstone manually, please check out this documentation:

We would love to know if this has worked for you. Thank you.

I already updated X Theme manually to 7.2.3, by uploading the zip, but it won’t validate the license. It didn’t update Cornerstone either after uploading the zip.

I was able to extract cornerstone.zip from the x.zip and that updated cornerstone, but still can’t validate. Sounds like it may have been better to stick with single site and put each in there own docker container.

I should mention each site has its own domain and their own X license. There is one site that has a different theme as well.

Hey @friedcircuits,

Yes, it would be better to have separate sites for this case as validation in multisite is not possible according to our core developer.

Oh, that is really unfortunate. It was fine after the import until I revoked it. I saw other threads that multisite is fine so that is why I did it. There should be official documentation on this topic. I spent a bunch of time setting all this up and only have less than a week to finish it.

Hi @friedcircuits,

We have noted your feedback. Meanwhile, with multi site set up, you can only validate the Main Site. If you have installed the X theme in your sub sites, validation may fail. By the way, you have mentioned that you already have uploaded X 7.2.3. To update Cornerstone since you haven’t validated the X theme yet, simply go to the Plugins section and do the following:
1.) Deactivate the old Cornerstone plugin
2.) Delete the old Cornerstone plugin
3.) Go to X > Validation and wait for a few moments while the Cornerstone version bundled in X 7.2.3 is installing in the background.
4.) A message should display once it is done installing Cornerstone. You may need to reactivate it again.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! That worked well. It would be great in the future if multi-site would be supported. I am just using it just to consolidate my blogs and run it in a single server/docker container/DB.

Hello @friedcircuits

Glad that we are able to help you

Have a nice weekend!
Thanks
