Most content dissappeared from front page

Hello!
I’m not sure when, but as some point (I assume through an update) a bunch of content has dissappeared from our home page.

When I open in Cornerstone and edit the page, all the sections are still there and visible, no matter what resolution you set the preview to. When loading the page in browser on my desktop and phone, both with WiFi and mobile data, only the first couple of sections are visible.
All other pages are intact. Duplicating the page and using that makes no difference.

Any idea what might have gone wrong?

Hi Jordan,

Thanks for writing in! I have tried to access your site several times, but I’m getting 502 Bad Gateway error which is a server related issue.

Could you please try contacting your hosting provider and ask them to check their error logs to resolve the issue.

If you’re have partially updated your site, please go through version guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195) and update any outdated plugin as well. Also make sure that you’re using the latest WordPress core version on your site. You can see the latest WordPress version from here (https://wordpress.org/download/) and update if required (https://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress).

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

That’s interesting, I’m not getting that error on any browser on any computer on any network I’m using?
Everything is on auto updates so is definitely up to speed.
Even tried it on a computer that has never visited the site before to check if it was a cache issue, and it wasn’t!

Hello There,

Did you inserted a custom html code with <div> tags in it? I am suspecting an unclosed </div> tag is causing this issue. Please provide use access to your site so that we can do further investigation about this issue.

To do this, you can create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password

To know how you can post a secure note, please check out this article: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Thank you in advance.

I’ve had a scan myself, can’t see anything obvious. Secure note added. Thanks for your help!

I have sussed it!
(Kinda)

It was my events calendar plug in. When there are no events to show on the homepage widget it obviously shows a certain error message which for some reason (maybe an unclosed div tag like you said) hides all content following it.

So, (and this may be outside your jurisdiction) is there a way to isolate that so it doesn’t affect the rest of the site? Or do I need to go digging through the plug in files to find the offending code?
The bit that buggers things up is currently being shown via a shortcode in a ‘Classic Raw Content’ field.

Hi Jordan,

Yes, it could be that empty (No) Events that is causing the issue, but I can’t replicate that on my end.

Or

It could be this

Not sure what that 2 empty Classic Widget Areas are doing in there, but I check that widgets (header 1 and header 4) on the Appearance > Widgets and they are empty.

Would you mind removing that, and see if that resolves the issue?

Thanks,
