Needs a direct link to the actual Changelog.
Every release is a bit frustrating to see what’s changed, as the changelog is difficult to find, and your links “to the changelog” do not actually link to the changelog.
For example: This is what the Changelog “link” in our dashboard within Pro Admin WordPress page links to: (Welcome to Themeco Docs)
Changelog
Browse the version history for each product including a list of all features and fixes. For a more detailed writeup, read the Release Notes post for each development cycle.
If you pay close attention, you’ll notice this is NOT a changelog. And it does not link to the changelog.
Please add a link to the “Release Notes” text above!
Searching theme.co does not bring up a changelog page either.
If you are lucky, you may find the main documentation page. The “Changelog” link at the top of the page does you no good though. It only brings up text telling you to look at the “Release Notes”. NOT Helpful. It needs to link to the actual Changelog/Release Notes.
If you are LUCKY, you might see a sidebar to the left. That sidebar does have working links to the changelogs of the various products. The sidebar is the ONLY place I have found working links to the actual product changelogs.
Hint: these links NEED to be included in the ACTUAL TEXT UNDER the “Changelog” Section of the page, which is linked to in the TOC at the top of the page.) And the Dashboard links need to navigate to this section OR to the actual Changelog page for the product in the dashboard.
BUT…
THIS SIDEBAR IS NOT EVEN VISIBLE on mobile devices, or on a laptop, if you do not have the browser maximized to full screen.
And some versions of this link do not show the sidebar even on a laptop even under those circumstances.
So only some visitors even have access to the changelog links. And even then, you have to look for it in a non-obvious location.
Thus there is a very narrow circumstance where a customer can even get to the Changelog page for the product we have purchased.
The TOC “Changelog” section linked to in the TOC and the “Changelog” link in our MUST include actual links to the actual Changelogs, or MUST directly navigate us to the actual Changelog for our product.
IMHO, the dashboard link should link directly to the product changelog page, but it is fine if you want to take us to a list of product changelogs instead. In the latter case, please direct us to the section of the page that lists the product changelog links.
Currently, the supposed Changelog links that we can reliably see/find are sending us in useless circles, never getting us to the information we need.
A very simple, quick update would fix this frustrating situation:
- Add those links from the sidebar to the Changelog section of the Documentation page.
- Links in the dashboard should scroll to the on page “Changelog” Section of the Documentation page.
This would be the easiest solution for both you and the users.
