Modern Sliders very long loadingtime

I wonder if there’s any chance to add some “content loading …” info to the background so there is no such huge “empty” gap until the slider is loaded…

otherway - is there any chance the slider will be lazy loaded in the future?

loading times are really slow here. 4-5 sec?

EDIT: deleted, reason: too happy too soon…

EDIT2: so… here’s the thing. I can’t add a custom class to the Autoplay progress slider element… Doing this I could easily place a background image in this div, but then the slides weren’t loaded. Reversing the action - all’s roger again. So the question still remains: how can I fill the empty void with some info before the first slide is loaded?

Hello Ondrej,

Thanks for writing to us.

I would suggest you use the optimized image for the slider and you can also upload the section background image as a placeholder image. There are many factors to speed up the page speed.

  • Better web hosting
  • Disable the unused plugin
  • Reduce image size
  • Keep external scripts to a minimum
  • Disable pingbacks and trackbacks
  • Cleanup WordPress database etc

I would suggest you please have a look at our doc to learn more about how to optimize the site performance.

Dear prakash
Thank you very much for your hint with the “section background”. Perfect. That one is checked.

Regarding your other suggestions: well… some of the points are yours. The issue here are probably the images. Emphasis on probably. The site loads super speedy - pagespeed insights on desktop 94 points, mobile 85?

The only thing that su… are the 3-5 sec before the first slider image appears.

The issue with the images according to pagespeed insights is proper sizing - and this is proper, because on mobile devices there’s more visible in the height than on desktop. For the mobile device the width is of course way too much. Duh…

Better hosting is not an option. Client’s decision.
The images are reduced to the max. all webp format. Pagespeed is moaning basically only about the slider images… the savings on the other listed as “insufficient” are tiny. Hard to believe they are the real reason for the delay.

Deactivate unused plugins checked.

Processing the rest…

Thx again for the info.

PS: Maybe somebody is reading along, in respect to caching and speed optimization check out Seraphinite Accelerator… at the moment 99 points on Pagespeed Insights for mobile devices, 100 on desktop… The only - THE ONLY issue is LCP and FCP

PS2: A wishful thinking: It would be a charm if there would be the “breakpoint” option for images as there is for any other parameter. I mean having an image properly sized for large screens and a different one for mobile.

You are most welcome, Ondrej.
