Modern Sliders just for the homepage

Hi,

until now I’ve used Revolution Sliders to create a slider on the homepage, that’s placed at the top of the page using the settings of that page. I’m very impressed by the new Modern Sliders. If I’m reading everything right then they could mean a huge improvement in performance, which would be great, since Revolution Slider puts some heavy weight on performance.

I need some advice tough on how to create a slider in Pro that would be part of the header, placed before the menu, but only on the homepage. I could create different headers: one for the homepage including the slider, and one for the rest of the website without the slider. But that means maintaining two headers. I could create a single header and hide the slider if current page is not the homepage, but that would have a negative impact on the loading time of the other pages. I also figured I could do something with Global Blocks, but since they are bout to change somewhere in the next few updates, I’m not so sure about that route.

Long story short: what is the best practice when wanting to use a ThemeCo Modern Slider on the homepage, above the head?

Hello @dhunink,

Thanks for writing in! We can recommend to create two headers wherein the 1st header can have the slider and assigned to the homepage while the 2nd header will now have a slider and will be assignment to the entire site. Or, you can create a single header with a slider in it and then apply a condition to your slider that it will only display if it is the homepage. It has its own pros and cons though which you already mentioned. In our opinion, option #1 is highly recommended.

Best Regards.
